Senior Product Designer for complex, high-trust digital products
I’m Mario Fernandez, a product designer with 12+ years of experience across fintech, banking, telecom, and consumer digital products.
A lot of my work has been in products where clarity really matters; onboarding, activation, service flows, and journeys that need to feel simple on the surface even when there’s a lot going on underneath.
I’ve worked across discovery, interaction design, prototyping, testing, and delivery, usually in close collaboration with product managers, engineers, QA, and other stakeholders. I’m most comfortable in teams where design is expected to do more than make things look good, where it helps clarify problems, shape decisions, and move the work forward.
What I enjoy
Is untangling complexity. That might mean reducing friction in a flow, making a product feel more trustworthy, or helping a team find a clearer way through a messy problem.
I care about
Thoughtful product work, honest collaboration, and solutions that are not only well designed, but also useful, realistic, and ready to ship.
I’m exploring
How AI can genuinely support design work, especially in synthesis, ideation, prototyping, and early concept development. I’m interested in where it helps speed things up or open up better options, without replacing judgement or critical thinking.
Outside work
I’m drawn to things that bring a bit more clarity and perspective to life. That probably shapes how I work too: I tend to be curious, calm under pressure, and more interested in depth than noise.
